The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited applications for its U.S.-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor PhD Scholarships for Spring/Summer and Fall 2027 admissions at top 100 QS-ranked U.S. universities. According to HEC, the scholarship is exclusively for PhD programmes and does not cover Master’s or MS leading to PhD degrees.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must be Pakistani or Azad Jammu and Kashmir nationals with a minimum of 16 years of education, a first division throughout their academic career (for Category I), and meet the required GRE General or HAT score. Candidates must also secure admission to an eligible U.S. university before applying.
Scholarship Benefits
For students admitted to universities ranked in the top 50 globally, HEC will cover tuition as per the university invoice, provide an annual stipend of $19,200, and $2,000 per year for health insurance. Those admitted to universities ranked 51–100 will receive tuition support of up to $12,000 per year, along with the same stipend and health insurance allowance.
Application Deadlines
The application deadline is October 30, 2026 for the Spring/Summer 2027 intake, and March 30, 2027 for the Fall 2027 intake. Applications must be submitted through the HEC scholarship portal.
Orientation Session in Peshawar
Meanwhile, the HEC organized an orientation session entitled “Overview of the International HEI Ranking Framework and Strategies for Improving the International Ranking of Universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” at HEC Regional Centre Peshawar. The session aimed to enhance the capacity of university representatives and equip them with insights into global higher-education ranking systems and strategies to improve the international standing of universities in the province.
