The Punjab Traffic Police has implemented an evidence-based e-challan system across the province, mandating that every traffic ticket be supported by photographic and video evidence. This initiative aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and public confidence in traffic enforcement.
How the System Works
Under the new system, motorists issued a traffic challan will receive an SMS from 8070 containing a link to view the photographic and video evidence of the alleged violation. The system is powered by the Traffic Police One App, which allows traffic wardens to issue challans backed by digital evidence captured at the scene.

DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir stated that the new mechanism will make traffic law enforcement more transparent, reduce disputes between motorists and traffic officials, and save time for both the public and law enforcement personnel. He emphasized that the evidence-based system will also strengthen legal proceedings against motorists who fail to pay fines by providing verifiable proof of violations. "The introduction of this system marks a significant step towards modernising traffic management in Punjab," Nazir added.
