Mirpurkhas police claimed to have seized Indian and Pakistani gutka and other prohibited items valued at more than Rs100 million during a major anti-narcotics operation conducted at Hilal Market in the early hours of Tuesday. The operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP Satellite Town Abdul Basit, with SHO Town Inspector Kamran Halepoto, SHO Mahmoodabad Inspector Mir Muhammad Keryo, and a heavy police contingent taking part.

Details of the Raid

According to police, raids on four shops in Hilal Market led to the recovery of eight sacks of Safeena gutka, large quantities of Pakistani and Indian gutka, and raw materials and leaves allegedly used in the preparation of the banned substance. All recovered items were taken into custody and shifted to Town Police Station.

Legal Proceedings

Police registered FIR No. 90/2026 under Sections 4, 5, 6, and 8 of the Sindh Prohibition of Preparation, Manufacturing and Sale of Intoxicating Drugs Act, nominating six accused, including Muzammil Malik, Zubair Malik, Haji Rashid Malik, Majid Malik, Police Constable Abdul Sattar Samoon, and Police Constable Ghafoor Baloch. No arrests had been made till the filing of this report.

Allegations of Police Involvement

Meanwhile, some shopkeepers in Hilal Market alleged that the seized goods were linked to Police Constable Abdul Sattar Samoon and claimed that the alleged narcotics network had been operating across Mirpurkhas city and the division under his patronage. DIG Mirpurkhas Range Captain (Retd.) Faisal Abdullah Chachar praised DSP Abdul Basit, SHO Mir Muhammad Keryo, and the police team for the successful operation, describing it as a significant step in the ongoing campaign against narcotics. He said intelligence-based operations against drug traffickers would continue without discrimination. Local residents also welcomed the crackdown and called for the immediate arrest of all suspects named in the FIR.
