Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to immediately halt any new excavation work in Sargodha ahead of the monsoon season. He also ordered the prompt restoration of roads and streets where sewerage work has already been completed.
Meeting Reviews Development Schemes
Chairing a meeting on Monday to review the progress of ongoing development schemes, the DC further ordered the completion of beautification projects in Kutchery Bazaar and City Road within one week. He directed authorities to reopen both markets fully for public use.
The meeting was attended by WASA Managing Director Muhammad Abu Bakar Imran, Deputy Director Development Mahtab Yaseen, AD PDP Hamid Chattha, and representatives of FESCO and other relevant departments.
Key Instructions for Monsoon Preparedness
The DC instructed WASA to complete road restoration in all areas where sewerage pipelines have been laid, ensure all disposal stations remain operational, and keep drainage tanks and the stormwater drainage system fully functional to prevent urban flooding during the monsoon.
Progress on Mega Sewerage Project
During the meeting, the WASA managing director briefed participants on the progress and timelines of the Mega Sewerage Project in Zones A and B. The DC emphasized that no new excavation should be undertaken until the monsoon season passes, to avoid disrupting drainage and causing waterlogging.
