The Sindh Agriculture Extension Department has ramped up its seed inspection campaign across the province to guarantee the availability of high-quality seeds for farmers. According to a statement from the department’s media focal person on Wednesday, the Federal Seed Certification Department, in collaboration with the Sindh Agriculture Extension Department, is working jointly to provide certified and top-grade seeds to growers.
Seed Sampling Underway in All Districts
Officials are conducting seed sampling in every district of Sindh as part of the inspection process. The inspections are being carried out rigorously during the Kharif season, which is critical for crop cultivation. The campaign aims to prevent the sale of substandard or counterfeit seeds that could harm crop yields.
Director General Issues Directives
Director General Agriculture Extension Sindh, Allah Warayo Rind, has directed all district officers to expedite the seed inspection campaign by utilizing all available resources. He instructed them to collect seed samples and send them to laboratories for testing. The directive emphasizes the importance of timely action to protect farmers' interests.
Focus on Rice Seed Quality in Badin
The Additional Director Agriculture Extension in Badin has taken serious notice of rice seed quality issues. Inspectors in the district have been ordered to collect samples of rice and other crop seeds and submit them to laboratories for analysis. This move comes amid concerns over the quality of rice seeds, a staple crop in the region.
Impact on Farmers and Agriculture
The intensified inspection campaign is expected to benefit farmers by ensuring they have access to certified seeds that meet quality standards. This initiative supports agricultural productivity and food security in Sindh. The department continues to monitor seed quality across the province to prevent any malpractices.
