Two Die from Toxic Gas in Bahawalnagar Sewer

In a tragic incident in Mehboob Colony, Tehsil Chishtian, Bahawalnagar, two sanitation workers died from poisonous gas while cleaning a sewer manhole. The victims were identified as 35-year-old Shafiq and 45-year-old Irfan Iqbal. Both suffocated due to toxic fumes and died on the spot.

Rescue Operation and Hospital Transfer

Rescue teams arrived promptly after the incident was reported. After two hours of continuous efforts, personnel retrieved the bodies from the manhole and shifted them to Civil Hospital Chishtian for necessary procedures.

CM Expresses Grief and Orders Inquiry

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed profound grief over the deaths. She extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed authorities to submit a report on the incident. The CM also approved a Rs570 million grant for infrastructure restoration of small industrial estates.
