The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department held consultations with representatives of the Peshawar Goldsmiths Association on Thursday to address property tax issues and improve coordination between tax authorities and the business community.
Meeting Details
The meeting, chaired by Director Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Peshawar Region, Syed ul-Amin, was attended by officials of ETO-II Peshawar and representatives of the association. Discussions focused on property tax matters relating to Sarafa Bazaar, including tax assessments, payment procedures and other issues raised by traders.
Concerns and Recommendations
Representatives of the Goldsmiths Association highlighted concerns regarding property tax administration and offered recommendations aimed at streamlining procedures and improving communication between taxpayers and the department. Syed ul-Amin reaffirmed the department’s commitment to resolving issues in accordance with the law while ensuring transparency, fairness and public facilitation.
Officials briefed participants on relevant property tax regulations, procedures and government policies, and responded to questions raised by members of the business community.
Agreement on Future Cooperation
Both sides agreed that regular consultation and constructive engagement would help address taxation issues more effectively while promoting a transparent revenue system and a business-friendly environment. Representatives of the Goldsmiths Association welcomed the department’s willingness to engage with stakeholders and presented suggestions for further improvements to the tax administration process.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both sides to maintain close coordination in resolving issues affecting traders and taxpayers.
