Pakistan will allow aspiring pilgrims to pay Hajj dues online for the first time through the country’s 1LINK interbank network, the Religious Affairs Ministry said on Tuesday, eliminating the need to visit bank branches as authorities accelerate preparations for Hajj 2027 amid ongoing registration for the pilgrimage.
Online payment facility launched
The online payment facility forms part of the government’s broader push to fully digitize Pakistan’s Hajj operation. Registration for Hajj 2027 can also be done electronically and is mandatory before pilgrims can choose whether to perform Hajj under the government scheme or through private tour operators.
“On the instructions of the prime minister, an online payment system for Hajj dues has been developed,” the Ministry of Religious Affairs said in a statement. “Through 1LINK, it will be possible to deposit Hajj dues from home,” it added. “There will be no need to visit a bank to pay Hajj dues.”
Registration milestone of 150,000
The ministry said its online Hajj portal had crossed the milestone of 150,000 registrations, describing it as another step toward making Pakistan’s Hajj operation more convenient in collaboration with the National Information Technology Board. It said the digital platform would allow pilgrims to complete the entire process, from registration to payment, online.
Overseas Pakistanis would also be able to register and pay from abroad, while applicants would be able to track the status of their applications through the portal. Pakistan completed Hajj 2026 operations last month and has since started preparations for next year’s pilgrimage in line with Saudi Arabia’s advance registration requirements.
