Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the maritime and transport sectors, following a high-level meeting in Istanbul. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, met with Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, to review existing ties and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Key Areas of Cooperation
The two ministers discussed expanding collaboration in maritime affairs, transport infrastructure, and logistics. They emphasized the importance of closer coordination to boost trade and connectivity between the two countries. Both sides underscored the strategic significance of strengthening ties in these sectors to facilitate economic growth and regional integration.

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed ongoing projects and initiatives under the existing cooperation framework. They expressed satisfaction with the current level of partnership and identified opportunities for further joint ventures, particularly in port development, shipping, and land transport corridors. According to an official statement, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations. Minister Chaudhry highlighted Pakistan's strategic location and its potential as a transit hub, while Minister Uraloglu expressed Türkiye's interest in leveraging its expertise in transport infrastructure to support Pakistan's development goals. The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a joint working group to monitor progress and implement the agreed-upon initiatives.
