The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested eight drug suppliers, including a woman, and recovered 45.5 kilograms of narcotics with an estimated street value of more than Rs6.5 million during seven intelligence-based operations conducted across the country.
Courier Smuggling Foiled in Karachi
Two operations targeted attempts to smuggle drugs abroad through courier services in Karachi. At a courier office in the Federal B Area, officials recovered 4 kg of crystal meth (ice) concealed inside children’s clothing in a parcel destined for Bahrain. In another operation at a courier office in Saddar, 6.3 kg of ice soaked into men’s garments were seized from a parcel also bound for Bahrain.
Domestic Interdiction in Jhang
In a domestic interdiction operation near Bhakkar Road in Jhang district, ANF personnel recovered 5 kg of ice from a vehicle and arrested the supplier.
Inter-Provincial Operations Yield Significant Seizures
Four inter-provincial operations resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics. Near Sher Shah Toll Plaza in Multan, authorities recovered 14.4 kg of hashish from a vehicle and arrested two drug pushers. In Peshawar, 5 kg of hashish were seized from a suspect near Custom Chowk.
Lahore Operations
In Lahore, ANF conducted two separate operations near Kanal Road, recovering 4.8 kilograms of hashish from two suspects travelling in a rickshaw. In another raid near a mosque on McLeod Road, authorities arrested a woman after recovering 3.6 kg of hashish and 2.4 kg of opium from her possession.
Legal Proceedings
According to an ANF spokesperson, cases have been registered against all arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, and further investigations are underway.
