The latest Henley Passport Index has ranked Singapore as the world's most powerful passport, maintaining its top position in global mobility rankings. According to the report, Singaporean passport holders can travel visa-free to 192 countries, the highest access level recorded.
Top Rankings and European Dominance
Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates share second place, each offering visa-free entry to 187 destinations. Norway and Switzerland also rank strongly, with access to 185 countries without a prior visa. The report highlights continued European dominance in passport strength, with European Union countries averaging visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to around 183 destinations.
Bottom Rankings and Pakistan's Position
At the other end of the ranking, Afghanistan remains at the bottom with access to just 23 countries, followed by Syria and Iraq. Pakistan is ranked 98th, placing it among the four weakest passports globally, with visa-free access to 31 countries. Experts note that stronger passport rankings are generally linked to economic stability, diplomatic relations, and global integration, while weaker rankings often reflect political instability and security concerns.
Travel Options for Pakistani Passport Holders
For Pakistani passport holders, visa-free destinations include countries such as Barbados, Dominica, Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Visa-on-arrival access is available in destinations including the Maldives, Qatar, Nepal, Rwanda, Cambodia, Madagascar, and Mozambique. Several countries, including Kenya, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Azerbaijan, now also offer electronic travel authorisation systems for entry.
Travellers are advised to ensure compliance with entry requirements such as valid passports, return tickets, proof of funds, accommodation details, and, in some cases, vaccination certificates.
