Ayesha Omar: Karachi Residents Deserve Medals for Survival

Karachi Ranked 170th in Global Liveability Index

Actor Ayesha Omar has expressed deep concern over Karachi's deteriorating infrastructure, stating that the city's residents 'deserve medals' for enduring daily hardships. She reshared a post about the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Index 2026, which ranked Karachi 170th out of 173 cities globally. 'We are not surprised,' she wrote, highlighting the city's low scores in stability, healthcare, environment, and infrastructure. Only Dhaka, Tripoli, and Damascus ranked lower.

Daily Struggles of Karachi Residents

In her Instagram post, Ayesha elaborated on the challenges faced by citizens: 'We deserve medals to exist and survive there, commuting on broken polluted roads, stuck for long hours in traffic jams, with limited gas/electricity in our homes, fear of constantly being mugged in our hearts, rushing and hustling in flight-or-fight mode, while working hard, paying all taxes and contributing to the economy.' Her comments resonate with millions who endure these conditions daily.

Ayesha has been a vocal advocate on various national issues.
