ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (PHDEC), operating under the Ministry of Commerce, has successfully facilitated the registration of seven additional Mango Processing and Hot Water Treatment (HWT) facilities with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC). This achievement marks a significant milestone for Pakistan’s mango export sector, as the last registration of such facilities occurred in 2015, when 25 facilities were approved.
Expansion of Approved Facilities
After nearly 11 years, seven additional facilities located in South Punjab and Karachi have now been registered, increasing the total number of approved facilities from 25 to 32. This expansion is expected to substantially enhance Pakistan’s capacity to export mangoes to China, a key market for the country’s horticulture products.
Collaborative Efforts Behind the Success
The achievement was made possible through PHDEC’s proactive engagement with GACC-China, in close coordination with the Department of Plant Protection (DPP) and the Pakistan Trade Mission in Beijing. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to strengthening bilateral trade ties and boosting agricultural exports.
In a related development, the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has made a significant oil and gas discovery at Bobi Deep-1, further contributing to Pakistan’s energy sector.
