In a strategic move to bolster domestic oil reserves and ensure uninterrupted supply, Pakistan has announced plans to import a total of six cargoes of petroleum products from Oman during the month of March. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, in a meeting with Fahad Bin Sulaiman Bin Khalaf Alkharusi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Pakistan, detailed the import schedule. So far in March, Pakistan has already received three cargoes of petrol and one cargo of diesel from Oman's ports. To further strengthen inventories, two additional petrol cargoes are slated for import before the month concludes.
The primary objective of these imports is to enhance local oil stocks and guarantee a smooth supply chain, particularly in light of volatile regional dynamics that could disrupt traditional energy routes.
Strengthening Bilateral Energy Ties
During the discussions, both sides explored avenues to deepen cooperation in the energy sector. Minister Malik expressed optimism that Oman would consider Pakistan's request for preferential energy cargoes to meet its growing domestic requirements.
