Ithra Announces Second Children’s Festival with Over 73 Events in Riyadh
Ithra Unveils Children’s Festival Featuring 73+ Events

The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) has unveiled details for its second children’s festival, featuring more than 73 events including interactive workshops, performances, storytelling sessions and art exhibits, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.

Festival Theme and Activities

This year’s events are themed around the concept of home, with children discovering how homes are designed through interactive experiences. A workshop titled “The Art of Kinusaiga” will allow children and families to explore this concept through traditional Japanese fabric crafting. Another workshop called “A Home I Imagine” invites children to turn their idea of a home into real-life models.

An interactive session called “Around the Table” explores how dining tables bring together different cultural practices and introduces a range of customs from around the world. The “On This Carpet” workshop lets children express their ideas through drawing and simple storytelling.

Summer Youth Program and Expert Participation

An intensive four-week Summer Youth Program will also be held, providing 13-16 year olds hands-on experience in the cultural sector. It aims to give young people an introduction to the industry and teach them life skills through mentorship and training. There will also be children’s authors and childhood development experts taking part in the educational activities.

Ithra, a Saudi Aramco initiative, aims to foster children’s curiosity with its activities and promote cultural engagement with the festival. The festival embodies the center’s role as a cultural destination with integrated learning and play for children and families, according to the SPA.

Event Schedule and Details

Activities begin on July 6 and run until July 25. Full details of the schedule can be found on Ithra’s website. The festival is part of Ithra’s ongoing efforts to provide cultural and educational opportunities for young audiences in Saudi Arabia.
