Grammys 2027 Adds 5 New Categories, Revises Best New Artist

The Recording Academy announced on Tuesday that the 2027 Grammy Awards will feature five new categories, along with revised rules that could impact the prestigious Best New Artist prize. Based on feedback from its members, the upcoming ceremony will honor Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Best R&B Collaboration Performance, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, Best Traditional Folk Album, and Best Latin Song.

Best New Artist Rule Changes

The academy also redefined the submission limit for the Best New Artist category, increasing it from three to four submissions. This change opens up opportunities for emerging singers who may have previously exhausted their eligibility. Past winners of this category include Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, and Olivia Dean.
