PNCA Summer Art Camp 2026 Nurtures Young Talent

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) is currently running its Summer Art Camp 2026 in Islamabad, providing children and young learners with a platform to develop artistic skills through hands-on training in drawing, painting, calligraphy, and keyboard. The two-month camp, which started on June 10, offers participants a chance to explore their creative potential under the guidance of experienced instructors in a vibrant learning environment.

Age-Specific Classes and Activities

Separate drawing and painting classes are conducted for children aged 7-12 years and 13-20 years. Calligraphy classes are open to participants aged 7-14 years, while keyboard training is offered to students between 8 and 16 years. This structured approach ensures age-appropriate instruction and skill development.

Parental Perspective on Screen Time

A parent attending the camp with two children in junior painting classes highlighted the challenge of keeping children away from mobile phones and digital gadgets during summer vacations. According to the parent, "Activities like the PNCA Summer Art Camp provide children with a healthy and creative alternative. They foster positive and constructive thinking, help polish their hidden talents and enable them to spend their vacations in a productive and meaningful way."

PNCA's Commitment to Creative Learning

Deputy Director PNCA Shabana Ashraf, who supervises the camp, stated that organizing summer art classes is a regular feature of the council's annual calendar of educational and cultural activities. She said, "Every year, PNCA arranges these classes to provide children with an opportunity to learn from experienced instructors, unlock their creative potential and spend their summer vacations in a creative and productive environment." She noted the encouraging response from parents, reflecting growing awareness about the importance of creative learning and extracurricular activities.

Objectives Beyond Technique

Ashraf added that the objective is not only to teach artistic techniques but also to build confidence, imagination, and aesthetic appreciation among young participants. "Such activities help children discover their hidden talents, develop creative thinking and contribute positively to their overall personality development," she explained.

Camp Duration and Schedule

The Summer Art Camp will continue until August 9 at the PNCA premises, with classes held on weekdays according to the announced schedule. The camp provides a structured environment for children to engage in productive activities during the summer break.
