Myra Jeddah: A French Culinary Haven for Brunch and Pastry Lovers
Myra in Jeddah stands as an ideal destination for those seeking a blend of desserts and casual brunch dishes, especially catering to enthusiasts of French cuisine and pastries. Located on Hira street in central Jeddah, the restaurant is easily recognizable by its signature purple arch doors, making it hard to miss. The space is wide, sunlit, and adorned with purple accents throughout, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners.
Brunch Delights and Signature Dishes
The menu at Myra tackles the challenge of satisfying almost every brunch and dessert craving, ranging from fresh juice and madeleines to eggs on brioche. As a loyal fan of eggs Benedict, I opted for their croissant Benedict, priced at 52 riyals. This dish features a poached egg, crispy bacon, and hollandaise sauce, all nestled in a fluffy croissant that perfectly balances the intensity of the yolk with the sauce. Despite being on the expensive side, it was delicious and well worth the splurge.
We also shared the French toast, which harmoniously combines flavors of salted caramel, coffee ice cream, pecan, and cinnamon cream. This dish exemplifies Myra's innovative approach to classic brunch items, offering a unique twist that delights the palate.
Health-Conscious Beverages and Options
While Myra is renowned for its delicately crafted pastries, the menu also includes a variety of health-conscious choices. Beverages range from protein shakes like "Hello, Good Morning" with strawberry and banana to options such as iced matcha rose and collagen latte. I tried the Myra boost juice for SR 30, a refreshing blend of acai, raspberry, apple, and banana that complemented the meal perfectly. Others at our table enjoyed Myra's iced ginger turmeric latte, another wellness-focused drink that adds to the restaurant's diverse offerings.
Extensive Patisserie and Dessert Selection
Moving to the vast patisserie selection, I sampled the tiramisu tart, which offers a creative twist on the classic dessert by incorporating all the traditional flavors into a tart form topped with coffee and jivara mousse. Additionally, I couldn't resist trying the funky take on a classic pain aux chocolate, which comes in a swirl shape with dark chocolate pieces, adding a modern flair to a beloved pastry.
We also ventured to try Myra's madeleines, a less common dessert option in the Kingdom. The lemon madeleines, coated with sweet white chocolate, provided lovely lemon notes that made for a delightful treat. Myra further enhances its dessert menu with a selection of sweet and fruity ice creams, catering to those with a sweet tooth.
Overall Experience and Value
Overall, Myra is a fantastic spot for innovative, high-quality dessert and brunch options. Although it leans towards the expensive side, the quality and creativity of the dishes justify the extra cost for those willing to indulge. Whether you're a local or a visitor in Jeddah, Myra offers a memorable culinary experience that blends French elegance with modern twists, making it a must-visit for food lovers.
