SESAM, an artisan bakery located in Jeddah's Al-Mohammadiyyah district, offers a unique concept where all items are prepared from scratch early in the day. The focus is primarily on croissants, pastries, and coffee, creating a warm and rustic atmosphere centered around a bakery counter display.
Croissant and Pastry Selection
During a visit, I sampled various croissants, starting with Swiss spinach and cheese, followed by chocolate hazelnut and almond varieties. The Danish options included feta with honey and a London-style croissant, each with distinct fillings but similar pastry bases. Custard and raspberry buns provided a softer texture with a light fruit layer.
Beyond Croissants
The menu extends to items like pan Swiss pecan, chocolate pan, palmier, cinnamon roll, brownies, and cookies, including triple chocolate. A standout is the monkey bread with pistachio and halva, incorporating cream cheese and praline elements, offering a richer option. However, some items may be quite sweet, and flavors can feel repetitive if multiple items are tried at once due to the similar base pastry profile.
Coffee and Overall Experience
The coffee complements the menu and setting, though the focus remains on baked goods. SESAM is ideal for a morning stop or casual pastry selection, with strength in variety. For more details, visit @sesam.sa.
