Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) will jointly organize the Dragon Boat Festival in collaboration with China Window to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China friendship. The decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by Director Culture and Tourism Ms. Halima Iqbal on Friday, with China Window represented by its Administrator, Amjad Aziz Malik.
Event Details
Participants were informed that the Dragon Boat Festival, one of the most popular traditional events in China, will be held for the first time near Peshawar at Sardaryab in District Charsadda on the Kabul River. The event will feature boat races powered by paddles, showcasing teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship.
Objectives
The primary goal of organizing the festival is to allow the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to share in the celebrations of their Chinese counterparts, further strengthening bilateral ties. Amjad Aziz Malik stated that multiple meetings have been held with relevant institutions to ensure the safety and security of all participants. Arrangements are being finalized to guarantee a successful and memorable event.
Commitment to Tourism
Ms. Halima Iqbal emphasized that the provincial Department of Culture and Tourism is fully committed to promoting tourism and highlighting the rich cultural heritage of both nations. Under the guidance of Chief Minister's Adviser on Tourism and Culture, Adil Iqbal, Secretary Saadat Hassan, and Director General KPCTA Shahid Khan, the Authority will collaborate closely with China Window to make the event a resounding success.
She noted that since this is the first Dragon Boat Festival in Pakistan, marking 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship, it is essential to ensure its success to convey a positive message of friendship, cultural harmony, and international cooperation from Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the world.
