Fifteen years after Teen Wolf first aired, Tyler Posey is celebrating the series that turned Scott McCall into one of television's most beloved supernatural heroes. In a recent interview marking the show's anniversary, Posey looked back on his journey with the MTV drama, sharing memories of his early days on set, his close friendship with Dylan O'Brien, and why he still hopes to bring the franchise back.
A Surprising Start
Posey admitted he wasn't sure what to expect when he first auditioned for Teen Wolf. At the time, the actor was an 18-year-old skateboarder who assumed the project would be another werewolf-themed melodrama. However, reading the script quickly changed his mind. The actor said he immediately connected with Scott's struggles, from feeling like an outsider to navigating friendships, popularity, and first love. It also marked his first leading role, making the experience especially meaningful.
Scott's Moral Compass
One of Posey's favorite aspects of playing Scott was the character's strong moral compass. He explained that Scott's desire to help others and become a better person influenced him both on and off screen as the series progressed. This trait resonated deeply with Posey, shaping his own personal growth.
The Scott and Stiles Bond
Of course, much of Teen Wolf's success came from the friendship between Scott and Stiles Stilinski. Posey recalled instantly bonding with Dylan O'Brien during auditions, noting that the two shared similar interests and personalities. Their friendship grew quickly and became one of the show's defining elements. 'I always thought the show should have been called Scott and Stiles,' Posey joked.
Memorable Stunts and Challenges
The actor also reflected on some of the show's most memorable stunt moments. From intense fight scenes and accidental punches to a terrifying Jeep stunt that left the vehicle balancing on two wheels, Posey said filming often came with unexpected challenges. He even revealed that he once fainted while shooting a physically demanding fight sequence after several exhausting days of stunt work. Despite the bumps and bruises, Posey remembers the experience fondly and remains proud of what the cast and crew created.
Looking Ahead
Today, he's focused on new projects, including a sketch-comedy series called The Midnight Sector and an upcoming horror-comedy film, Sober House, which he wrote and plans to direct. Still, Teen Wolf remains close to his heart. Posey revealed that he's actively trying to revive the franchise and believes there are still more stories to tell for Scott McCall and the rest of the Beacon Hills pack.
Looking back 15 years later, the actor says rewatching the series feels like revisiting old friends. Rather than critiquing his performances, he finds himself appreciating the memories, relationships, and unique legacy the show created. For Posey, Teen Wolf wasn't just another acting job; it was a defining chapter of his life, and one he hopes isn't over yet.
