Karachi Hosts International Seminar for World Book Day and Iqbal's Legacy
An international seminar was held in Karachi to mark World Book Day and commemorate the death anniversary of Pakistan's national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The event took place at the Russia Center Karachi and was organized by the Society for Promotion of Reading and Improvement of Libraries (SPRIL).
Distinguished Guests and Participants
The chief guests at the seminar included renowned poetess and intellectual Professor Dr. Tanveer Anjum, along with prominent journalist Ikhlaq Ahmed. The guest of honor was Ruslan Prokhorov, Director of the Russia Center Karachi. Other notable participants from SPRIL were Rabia Ali Fareedi, Jawahir Aleem, and Sameem Kardar. International librarians Loida Garcia Febo and Dr. Collence T. Chisita also attended, alongside SPRIL President Ikram ul Haq.
Future Initiatives and Literary Cooperation
Rabia Ali Fareedi announced that SPRIL and the Russian Center plan to organize future programs focused on library sciences to emphasize the ongoing importance and utility of libraries and books. Ruslan Prokhorov highlighted the deep and bright foundations of literary cooperation between Russia and Pakistan, noting that both countries possess rich literary traditions. He emphasized that through the promotion of books, translations, and reading, mutual understanding and learning can be enhanced.
