Khanewal - District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid chaired a crucial meeting at the SDPO Office, Khanewal Circle, focusing on security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was attended by SDPO Saeed Sial, concerned Station House Officers (SHOs), organizers of Majalis and processions, license holders, and members of the District Peace Committee.
Comprehensive Security Discussions
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on ensuring foolproof security measures throughout Muharram. Participants emphasized the need for joint efforts to promote inter-sect harmony, unity, and brotherhood among the community. The centuries-old historic Taleri Garden, awaiting restoration, was also mentioned as a cultural landmark.
DPO's Address and Directives
Addressing the gathering, DPO Muhammad Abid stated that the district police would remain on high alert throughout Muharram to ensure the safety and security of citizens. He declared that no one would be allowed to disrupt law and order under any circumstances. The DPO further remarked that maintaining peace during Muharram was the police department’s top priority. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals spreading provocative, sectarian, or inflammatory content on social media. The code of conduct for Muharram would be strictly enforced in all situations.
Participants' Cooperation and Route Inspection
Participants expressed confidence in the police arrangements and assured their full cooperation in maintaining peace. Later, the DPO, accompanied by procession organizers and members of the Peace Committee, conducted a detailed inspection of the routes for the main Muharram processions scheduled for the 6th and 10th of Muharram, originating from the Central Imambargah in Block No. 11. An officer was transferred after reporting alleged canal water theft, but this did not affect the security preparations.
