Indian Pilgrim's Surprising Decision in Pakistan

An Indian Sikh woman has made headlines after converting to Islam and marrying a Pakistani citizen during her pilgrimage to Pakistan. Sarbjit Kaur appeared before a local court in Sheikhupura where she confirmed her voluntary conversion and marriage to Naseer Hussain.

Court Proceedings and Voluntary Declaration

In a significant development before Judicial Magistrate Shahbaz Hassan Rana, Sarbjit Kaur stated that she embraced Islam of her own free will without any external pressure. Represented by Advocate Ahmad Hassan Pasha from the Sheikhupura District Bar, the woman now known as Noor affirmed her independent decision to both convert and marry.

The court records reveal that Kaur specifically maintained that she faced no coercion at any stage of her conversion or marriage process. Her sworn statement emphasized that she independently chose to convert to Islam and contract marriage with the Pakistani man.

Marriage Details and Timeline

According to official documents, the marriage between Noor (formerly Sarbjit Kaur) and Naseer Hussain took place on November 5, 2025 in Farooqabad, district Sheikhupura. The marriage contract specified a dower amount of ten thousand rupees, which has already been paid in full.

The marriage certificate indicates that Noor is a divorced woman and mother of two children. She arrived in Pakistan on November 4 as part of a Sikh pilgrims' group visiting the country. After her arrival, she separated from the group and proceeded with her marriage to Hussain.

Her disappearance came to light when Indian pilgrims were preparing to return home on November 13 at the conclusion of their ten-day visit. Following reports of her missing status, police and intelligence agencies launched an extensive search to locate her.

By Friday, information surfaced indicating she had married a Pakistani citizen, and on Saturday she formally appeared before the local magistrate in Sheikhupura to record her sworn statement. Her visa had expired on November 13, the same day her fellow pilgrims were scheduled to depart.

The final decision regarding whether the Indian woman will be repatriated to India or permitted to stay in Pakistan will be determined by the relevant law enforcement authorities according to applicable laws and regulations.
