In commemoration of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's 150th birth anniversary, the Pakistan High Commission in Maldives, in collaboration with the Maldives National University (MNU), organized a students' debate competition focusing on the life, vision, leadership traits, contributions, personality, and legacy of the founder of Pakistan.
Chief Guest and Dignitaries
Heena Waleed, Maldives' Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, graced the event as the chief guest. The occasion was also attended by the Ambassadors of China and Japan, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, and the Counsellor General of Russia.
Judges and Speakers
The debate competition was judged by Adnana Cheema, UNDP's Resident Representative, Ali Fakhir, and Professor Mohamed Didi. Dr. Fiaz Gillani and Air Commodore (retired) Khalid Chishti, who joined online from Pakistan, shared their valuable insights on Quaid's remarkable achievements.
The event brought together a large number of MNU students, distinguished Maldivian guests, diplomats, and members of the Pakistani community for an engaging afternoon marked by thought-provoking debates, speeches, cultural exchange, and people-to-people interactions.
Student Participation
Participating students enthusiastically presented well-researched discourses on the leadership, vision, and enduring legacy of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, highlighting his valuable contributions to the creation of Pakistan and laying the foundation for its progress and development.
Students concluded that the positive impact of Quaid-e-Azam's personality, his iconic leadership, and his precious teachings are everlasting. They noted that his relevance is not confined to Pakistan but extends to generations worldwide.
Awards and Acknowledgements
At the conclusion, the chief guest awarded cash prizes and certificates to the participating teams. The High Commissioner presented mementoes to the chief guest, the Vice Chancellor of MNU, Madam Shehnaz, MNU students, judges, and members of the Pakistani community.
The mission extended its sincere gratitude to all participants, organizers, judges, and attendees whose valuable contributions made the event a great success.
