Muharram Security Plans Reviewed for Lahore

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana announced on Wednesday that extensive security measures will be implemented to safeguard participants attending Muharram-ul-Haram gatherings and mourning processions throughout the provincial capital. He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting of the District Peace Committee held at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh.

Meeting Participants and Discussions

The meeting was attended by prominent religious scholars and members of the Central Peace Committee, including Agha Hussain Qazalbash, Maulana Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, Khawaja Meesam Abbas, Mufti Imran Sajjad Hanafi, Maulana Rai Zafar Ali, and Maulana Shakeel-ur-Rehman. The participants engaged in discussions centered on maintaining peace and reviewing the security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

CCPO's Address on Collective Responsibility

Addressing the gathering, Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized that upholding law and order and fostering religious harmony are collective responsibilities. He expressed confidence that through close coordination among all schools of thought, the district administration, and line departments, Muharram will remain peaceful. The CCPO further stated that strict adherence to notified timings and designated routes for majalis and mourning processions will be ensured.

Directives for Enhanced Security

He directed divisional SPs to maintain continuous contact with peace committee members and procession organizers. He added that security screening of majalis and processions will be further strengthened with the cooperation of organizers and volunteers. At the conclusion of the meeting, special prayers were offered for the country's security, stability, and the maintenance of peace during Muharram-ul-Haram.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, SSP Operations Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, SP Security Dr Muhammad Umar, divisional SPs, and other officials attended the meeting. Additionally, Alhamra provided hands-on sculpture training to aspiring young artists.
