KP Education Dept Announces Summer Vacation Schedule 2026

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has formally announced the summer vacation schedule for all public and private educational institutions across the province. The schedule introduces separate holiday periods for schools located in Summer Zone and Winter Zone areas, taking into account the prevailing weather conditions and geographical differences between various regions.

The department has also made it mandatory for schools in the Summer Zone to organize summer camps during June to ensure continuity of academic activities and minimize learning losses among students. According to an official notification issued by the department, structured academic sessions will continue during the break through specially arranged summer camps.

Summer Zone Vacation Details

Under the revised schedule, all public and private primary schools located in the Summer Zone will remain closed for regular classes from June 1 to August 31, 2026. However, middle, high and higher secondary schools in the same zone will observe summer vacations from June 15 to August 16, 2026. This staggered approach aims to balance academic needs with weather conditions.

Winter Zone Vacation Details

For educational institutions situated in the Winter Zone, the notification provides a uniform one-month vacation period. Accordingly, all primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools in these areas will remain closed from July 1 to July 31, 2026. The shorter break reflects the milder summer climate in these regions.

Mandatory Summer Camps

The Education Department has directed that summer camps will be compulsory for all public and private schools in the Summer Zone throughout the month of June. The camps will be conducted from Monday to Thursday each week with limited teaching hours to facilitate students without exposing them to extreme daytime temperatures. According to the notification, classes for primary and middle school students during the summer camps will be held daily from 7:00am to 9:00am, while students of high and higher secondary schools will attend classes from 7:00am to 9:40am. The department has specifically instructed that under no circumstances should academic activities continue beyond 10:00am.

This initiative aims to prevent learning loss during the extended summer break while ensuring student safety from heat. The department emphasized that all schools must comply with the schedule and camp requirements.
