Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a province-wide initiative to modernise government schools, aligning with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. During a visit to Multan, the minister inaugurated development projects at Government Aam Khas High School and reviewed ongoing reforms in the education sector. He stated that the School Education Department had intensified efforts to build new classrooms and establish information technology laboratories in public schools.
Infrastructure Development in Multan
Provincial Secretary School Education Mudassar Riaz Malik accompanied the minister during the visit, where the foundation stone for additional classrooms was also laid. Addressing the ceremony, Rana Sikandar Hayat said 25,000 new classrooms were being constructed across Punjab through projects worth billions of rupees. He added that strengthening boundary walls, setting up IT labs, and improving sports infrastructure were among the government’s key priorities.
Focus on Modern Facilities
The minister stated that an unprecedented number of development schemes had been launched to equip students with modern educational facilities and improve learning standards across government schools. He further announced that the per-student subsidy for children studying in schools supported by the Punjab Education Foundation had been doubled to expand access to quality education.
Commitment to Timely Completion
Rana Sikandar Hayat said increased investment in the education sector would help raise academic standards and ensure better learning opportunities for students throughout the province. He also directed officials to complete all development projects within the prescribed timelines as part of the Punjab government’s efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure.
