KU & TCF Partner to Support Underprivileged Students' University Access
KU and TCF Sign MoU for Student Admissions

Historic Partnership for Educational Access

The University of Karachi (KU) and The Citizens Foundation (TCF) have forged a significant partnership through a memorandum of understanding signed on Thursday. This collaboration aims to streamline admissions for outstanding TCF alumni into various undergraduate programs at one of Pakistan's premier universities.

The signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat, where Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Vice Chancellor of KU, and Sadaf Asir Hasan, General Manager of Alumni Pathways at TCF, formalized the agreement.

Distinguished Presence at Signing Ceremony

The event witnessed participation from numerous academic leaders and TCF representatives. Among the notable attendees were TCF's Head of Department, Access and Support, Tazeen Arsalan, and Manager Scholarships Maryam Anis Ur Rehman. The University was represented by several deans including Professor Dr Syed Shabib ul Hassan, Director Evening Program, and deans from various faculties including Arts and Social Sciences, Science, Management and Administrative Sciences, and Pharmacy.

TCF's Remarkable Educational Journey

During the ceremony, Sadaf Hasan elaborated on TCF's impressive trajectory since its establishment in 1995. The organization began as a response to Pakistan's educational challenges and has grown into one of the country's leading formal education providers.

TCF currently operates 2,033 purpose-built school units nationwide, serving approximately 301,000 students. Each year, more than 8,000 students complete their matriculation through TCF institutions, with the organization continuing to support their pursuit of higher education.

Proven Track Record of Success

The partnership builds on existing success stories. Since 2013, over 7,000 TCF alumni have secured admissions in universities across Pakistan. Specifically at KU, 37 TCF alumni have already completed their degrees, while 10 are currently enrolled on campus. In total, 142 TCF alumni have been part of the KU community to date.

Leadership Applauds Educational Initiative

KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi and other university officials commended TCF's approach to facilitating higher education opportunities. They emphasized that other organizations should emulate TCF's model to ensure maximum youth can access education from schools through universities.

This partnership represents a significant step toward educational equity in Pakistan, creating pathways for deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds to access quality higher education at prestigious institutions like the University of Karachi.
