A significant laptop distribution ceremony took place at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad on Thursday, as part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme. The event was graced by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, who served as the chief guest and personally handed over laptops to deserving students.
Naqvi Congratulates Students and Highlights University's Importance
In his address, Mohsin Naqvi extended warm congratulations to the students who received laptops, recognizing their academic achievements. He emphasized the pivotal role of Quaid-i-Azam University, stating that Islamabad is incomplete without this prestigious institution. Naqvi praised the university as a beautiful amalgamation of students from all parts of the country, underscoring its national significance in fostering educational excellence and unity.
Commitment to Improving Student Facilities and Combating Encroachments
The Interior Minister assured that facilities for students at Quaid-i-Azam University and other universities across Pakistan would be further enhanced. He also took a firm stance on illegal land occupations, declaring that encroachments on government land in Islamabad will not be tolerated. Naqvi stressed a zero-tolerance policy, urging encroachers to vacate land voluntarily and warning that all illegal occupants would be removed entirely to reclaim public property.
Announcement of Islamabad Vision 2027 and University Town Project
Looking ahead, Mohsin Naqvi revealed that Islamabad Vision 2027 will be presented next month, featuring a groundbreaking University Town project. This initiative aims to transform the educational landscape, with plans to renovate and beautify the main entrance of Quaid-i-Azam University and upgrade its auditorium into a modern, state-of-the-art facility. Naqvi reiterated the government's mission to provide a memorable and conducive educational environment for students, aligning with broader efforts to boost higher education standards.
Enhancing University Rankings and Institutional Collaboration
Expressing pride in Quaid-i-Azam University's consistent top ranking in the country for three consecutive years, as noted by the Vice Chancellor, Naqvi highlighted ongoing improvements. He announced that the Ministry of Interior has appointed a dedicated coordinator for the university to streamline support. Additionally, a collaboration between educational and security institutions will be strengthened, with the National Police Academy awarding degrees through Quaid-i-Azam University to its trainee officers, fostering interdisciplinary ties.
Government's Dedication to Youth Empowerment
Naqvi emphasized that the laptop scheme is very close to the heart of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, reflecting the government's commitment to empowering youth through technology and education. The ceremony was attended by key officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, DIG Operations, faculty members, and other senior figures, showcasing widespread support for this initiative.
