In a major announcement for students across Pakistan, the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has declared that the admissions process for its Spring Semester of 2026 will commence simultaneously across the nation. The university will begin accepting applications for a wide array of academic programs, ranging from Matriculation all the way to Doctoral (PhD) studies, starting from the first day of January 2026.
Nationwide Reach and International Offerings
This significant admission drive will be accessible in all four provinces of Pakistan—Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. Furthermore, students in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the northern areas will also have equal access to apply. The university's press release, issued on a Sunday, highlighted that various programs at different levels are also being offered specifically for Pakistani citizens residing abroad and for international students, broadening its educational outreach globally.
Digital-First Application Process and Student Support
Aligning with modern educational trends, the university administration confirmed that admission forms and prospectuses for all programs will be available online from January 1, 2026. Students can access these resources directly through the official AIOU website, allowing them to apply from the comfort of their homes. To ensure a smooth and supportive process, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood has issued special directives to the heads of the university's extensive network of 53 regional offices spread throughout the country.
Establishment of Student Facilitation Centers
As per the VC's instructions, Student Facilitation Centers will be set up at all regional campuses before the admission window opens. The primary goal of these centers is to provide complete guidance and support to prospective students, helping them navigate the application process without confusion. In a notable move to bridge the digital divide, these centers will also offer free computer and internet facilities. This initiative is designed to ensure that no student faces difficulties while submitting their online applications due to a lack of resources.
