Amy Adams has shared the remarkable real-life incident in which she helped save a man who had suffered a serious stabbing injury, revealing that knowledge gained from one of her acting jobs proved unexpectedly useful.
How the Incident Unfolded
Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, Adams recalled that she, her husband Darren Le Gallo, their daughter Aviana and her father Richard Adams had just left one of their favourite restaurants in Santa Monica when they suddenly heard people screaming for help. According to Adams, a man had been stabbed in the neck and his friends were panicking as he lost blood. While Le Gallo stayed with their daughter, Adams and her father rushed to assist the victim.
The actress explained that they used beach towels they had with them to apply pressure to the wound and help slow the bleeding until emergency services could take over. Adams said she remained calm and focused throughout the frightening situation.
First Aid Knowledge from Acting Role
She revealed that some of the first aid knowledge she relied upon came from working on the 2004 television drama Dr. Vegas. Although she is not medically trained, Adams said the experience gave her enough understanding to react quickly. Recalling the moment, she said she instructed the injured man to remain still because excessive movement could increase blood loss. Her efforts, alongside those of others at the scene, helped stabilise the victim.
Emotional Reunion a Year Later
The story took another emotional turn about a year later when Adams unexpectedly encountered the man again while dining at a restaurant. A stranger approached her and mentioned a story about someone helping a stabbing victim. Adams soon realised the man standing before her was the same person she had assisted. She described the reunion as surreal and said the survivor became emotional during the meeting. Adams also admitted that seeing him healthy and alive made the experience even more meaningful.
Life in Her 50s and Family
Elsewhere in recent interviews, the Enchanted star has spoken positively about entering her 50s, describing the stage of life as freeing and saying she feels more centred and grateful than ever. Adams and Le Gallo married in 2015 after first meeting in acting class in 2001. The couple share daughter Aviana and have maintained a relatively private family life despite Adams' long Hollywood career.
