Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson to Reunite in Apple TV+ Comedy Brothers
McConaughey and Harrelson Reunite for Brothers Comedy

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are set to reunite on screen in Brothers, a new comedy series from Apple TV+ that will premiere on September 23, 2026. According to Variety, the eight-episode series stars McConaughey and Harrelson as fictionalised versions of themselves. The story follows the longtime friends as they uncover a decades-old secret that raises the possibility that they could actually be brothers.

Created by The Office producer Lee Eisenberg, the comedy begins when Harrelson's character arrives at McConaughey's ranch in Austin, Texas, with his family following a disrupted wedding. As the pair investigate their family history, McConaughey is also forced to confront a separate challenge involving a potential campaign for Governor of Texas.

Apple TV+ has released a first look at the series while confirming that the first two episodes will debut on September 23. New episodes will then be released weekly through November 4. The cast includes Holland Taylor as McConaughey's mother, Ma Mac, alongside Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan and Oona Yaffe.

The premise is inspired by real-life speculation surrounding the actors' friendship. In previous interviews, Harrelson revealed that his father had a past relationship with McConaughey's mother, leading to long-running rumours that the pair could be related. While no public confirmation has been made, the possibility helped inspire the series' storyline.

Brothers is produced by Paramount Television Studios for Apple TV+. The project was first announced in 2023 and experienced multiple production delays before receiving its official release date. The series marks the first major on-screen reunion for McConaughey and Harrelson since their acclaimed collaboration on True Detective.
