Actor Faizon Love was arrested in Tampa, Florida, on June 16 and booked on two counts of contempt of court, according to jail records. The 58-year-old actor, best known for his role in the 2003 holiday film Elf, was taken into custody and processed at Orient Road Jail in Tampa.
TMZ first reported the arrest and stated that it was linked to an ongoing paternity case involving the actor. Representatives for Love and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were contacted for comment by multiple outlets.
Love has faced previous legal issues. In 2017, he was accused of assault following an incident involving a valet worker at John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio. He later pleaded no contest and received a suspended 180-day sentence along with a $500 fine, according to local reports.
In 2025, Love was named in a lawsuit alleging that he assaulted a hotel employee during an incident at a San Diego hotel in 2024. The plaintiff claimed that the actor became “agitated and aggressive” after being told there were no available rooms and that he “forcefully ripped the credit card reader off the counter and hurled it at” her, “striking her on the right side of her head.” At the time the lawsuit was filed, records from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office showed an outstanding warrant for Love’s arrest on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. The warrant has since been cleared and is no longer active.
Love began his screen career in 1992 with Bebe’s Kids and has appeared in films including Friday, The Meteor Man, and Elf. His most recent screen credit was the 2023 film The Last Stop in Yuma County.
