Connor Murphy, the 32-year-old bodybuilding influencer and YouTuber with over 2.4 million subscribers, died on July 7 in Samut Prakan province, Thailand, after reportedly fleeing police and entering a lake. Rescue divers recovered his body approximately 65 feet from the shore. An initial examination found no visible signs of assault, and a full autopsy and toxicology analysis are pending.
Claims of Gold Fixation
Fellow content creator Androgenic alleged that Murphy had become fixated on the idea that gold possesses extraordinary properties. According to Androgenic, Murphy believed ingesting or injecting gold could provide 'special powers' and higher levels of consciousness. He claimed Murphy had begun injecting gold and displaying increasingly erratic behavior in the weeks leading up to his death.
Unconfirmed Allegations
These allegations have not been confirmed by Thai authorities or medical officials. Investigators found two unused syringes inside Murphy's vehicle and unidentified white pills in a waist bag, but police have not linked these items to the claims about gold or determined if any substance contributed to his death.
Mental Health Concerns
Androgenic also stated that Murphy had been struggling with bipolar disorder, and friends had become increasingly concerned about his behavior before the incident. Murphy was known for bodybuilding, fitness, and lifestyle content before associating with the looksmaxxing community.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Murphy's death. Official autopsy and toxicology results are expected to provide further clarity.
