Zendaya Uses Tony Stark's 'Screwed the Pooch' Line on Tom Holland

Zendaya and Tom Holland are continuing to charm fans with sweet stories from their newlywed life as they promote Spider-Man: Brand New Day, revealing that one memorable line from their first Marvel film has become part of their everyday conversations. During an interview with BBC Radio 1 on July 1, Zendaya admitted that one of her favourite phrases to say to her husband comes directly from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Turning to Holland, she joked, "You're gonna be like, 'No, you don't!'" before confessing that she often tells him: "You really screwed the pooch on that one." Holland immediately laughed in recognition. "Yeah, you do say that a lot," he replied.

Origin of the Phrase

The phrase was first spoken by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in the 2017 Marvel blockbuster while reprimanding Peter Parker after one of his mistakes. Holland revealed that the line wasn't even in the original script. "Really interesting ad-lib, but it's a great line, and it works in the movie," he said, recalling that he had no idea what Downey meant when he first delivered it during filming.

Behind-the-Scenes Glimpses

The interview wasn't the only moment that delighted fans during the press tour. In another video shared widely on social media, the couple offered a glimpse into their life at home after long days on set. Zendaya revealed that Holland loves enthusiastically recounting everything that happened during filming. "I have a lot of videos," she said. "I'll be in bed and he'll be in front of the bed. He'll be like, 'Okay, so today I jumped in and I did this thing…' He'll paint the whole picture." The actress laughed as she described Holland's animated storytelling, giving fans another look at the playful dynamic that has made the couple one of Hollywood's favourites.

Promotional Tour and Marriage

The newlyweds have been travelling together while promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which sees them reunite on screen as Peter Parker and MJ following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Their recent interviews have been filled with affectionate teasing, inside jokes and candid stories, much to the delight of fans. Zendaya and Holland quietly married earlier this month after years together, having first met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. Since confirming their relationship in 2021, they have largely kept their romance private while occasionally sharing glimpses of their life together.

Upcoming Release

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to arrive in cinemas on July 31, audiences are eagerly anticipating the return of Peter and MJ. In the meantime, the couple's off-screen chemistry continues to steal the spotlight, proving their real-life love story is every bit as entertaining as their Marvel romance.
