Inspiration from American Primeval

The actress, who plays Caroline Ingalls, revealed that watching Netflix’s historical drama American Primeval inspired her desire to work on a series set during the same era. Shortly after watching the show, Fitzgerald received an audition opportunity for Little House on the Prairie.

The Family’s Risky Move

The actress said the family’s decision to leave Wisconsin for the Kansas frontier was a major risk, especially with two young daughters. She noted that Caroline’s concerns came from wanting to protect her children while also supporting her family’s future. Throughout the first season, Caroline challenges Charles when she feels their choices could put the family in danger.

Mutual Respect in Marriage

Fitzgerald said their relationship is based on mutual respect, allowing her character to speak honestly and defend her children when necessary.

Season Finale and Move to Plum Creek

The season finale sees the Ingalls family facing another major change after a fire destroys their crops, leading them to move to Plum Creek, a location familiar to fans of the original Little House on the Prairie series.

Season 2 Teases

While filming season 2, Fitzgerald teased new storylines, including the arrival of Willa Dunn as Nellie Oleson. She also revealed that fans can expect elements from On the Banks of Plum Creek, along with new additions to the story.
