Anne Hathaway has praised her The Odyssey co-star Tom Holland, describing him as the "dream son" as she continues promoting the upcoming film while expecting her third child. Hathaway made the remarks during an interview with eTalk, where she reflected on playing Penelope, the mother of Holland's character, Telemachus, and drew comparisons between her on-screen role and her life as a parent.
Hathaway's Praise for Holland
"First of all, I have to say, as a mom in real life, I very much hope all of my children grow up to be as wonderful as my on screen child," Hathaway said, before adding, "Dream son." The comments come weeks after the Oscar-winning actress announced that she is expecting her third child with her husband, Adam Shulman. Hathaway, who is already the mother of sons Jonathan and Jack, revealed her pregnancy in June through a video shared on Instagram.
Working on The Odyssey
Speaking about working on The Odyssey, Hathaway also praised Holland, fellow cast member Matt Damon and director Christopher Nolan, saying the atmosphere on set was built on mutual admiration and respect. "We have this amazing script, brilliant actors, but I just really love Tom and I really love Matt, and I love Chris," she said. "Even though this was this big epic movie, it was really grounded in intimate appreciation of each other and respect for each other."
Motivated by Nolan's Reputation
Hathaway also explained that the cast was motivated by a shared desire to deliver performances worthy of Nolan's reputation. "I don't think any of us wanted to let Chris down, so I think we all just kind of harnessed our highest strength and our highest passion, and we just tried to be an actor that was worthy of being in a Chris Nolan movie," Hathaway said. The actress has continued promoting The Odyssey in New York, London and Paris, where she has been showcasing her baby bump ahead of the film's release on July 17.
