Christopher Nolan is set to visit India this July for the Indian premiere of his upcoming film The Odyssey, accompanied by cast members Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Universal Pictures announced that Mumbai has been selected as one of four cities on the film’s global premiere tour, alongside Paris, New York City and London. The event marks the first time Nolan will premiere one of his films in Mumbai. The premiere screening will be held in IMAX at Phoenix Palladium.
In its announcement, Universal described the visit as “a landmark moment” for both the film and the Indian entertainment industry. “The visit marks a landmark moment for both the film and the Indian entertainment industry, bringing together one of cinema’s most celebrated filmmakers and an acclaimed cast for a historic premiere event in the country,” the statement read.
Nolan last visited India in 2018 as part of his Reframing the Future of Film campaign, during which he met veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Kamal Haasan to discuss film preservation. The filmmaker has also shot scenes in India for several projects, including The Dark Knight Rises, which featured sequences filmed at Mehrangarh Fort.
Damon and Holland have likewise visited India in the past. Damon travelled to Goa for filming and humanitarian initiatives, while Holland attended the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in 2023.
The Odyssey is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 17, 2026.
