House of Guinness is set to continue after Netflix approved a second season of the historical drama inspired by the famous Irish brewing dynasty. According to reports, production on the new episodes is expected to begin in early 2027. Netflix has not publicly commented on the renewal, but the move comes after the first season attracted strong audience interest following its debut in September 2025.

Created by Stephen Knight, the writer behind Peaky Blinders, the series is set in 1860s Ireland and follows the Guinness family after the death of patriarch Sir Benjamin Guinness. The drama explores the fierce rivalries among his heirs as they compete for control of the business empire he built.
Cast and Production
The first season starred Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn and Fionn O’Shea as members of the Guinness family. Supporting cast members included James Norton, Jack Gleeson, Michael McElhatton, Dervla Kirwan, Danielle Galligan and Ann Skelly. Produced by Kudos, which is owned by Banijay, the series quickly drew comparisons with both Succession and Peaky Blinders because of its mixture of family conflict, ambition and political unrest.
Although much of the story takes place in Dublin, filming largely occurred in Liverpool and Manchester. Critical and audience response to the drama was generally positive. Viewers praised its performances, visual style and period atmosphere. However, some commentators in Ireland criticised the series for historical inaccuracies and for its portrayal of post famine politics and anti colonial movements. The production has always described itself as fictional storytelling inspired by real events rather than a strict historical account.
Cliffhanger and Future Plans
The first season ended with a major cliffhanger involving one of its central characters, leaving viewers expecting further episodes. Stephen Knight previously indicated that he hoped the project could expand over several seasons, similar to the long running journey of Peaky Blinders. Knight’s future involvement remains unclear because he is also working on the screenplay for the next James Bond film.
