FAISALABAD: The police have intensified action against individuals involved in making bogus emergency calls and arrested two suspects on charges of falsely reporting a robbery incident to mislead law enforcement authorities.
A police spokesperson said on Tuesday that Khurarianwala police arrested accused Owais and Sagheer Ahmad after they were found involved in making a fake emergency call to Police Helpline 15, claiming a robbery had taken place. Upon receiving the call, a police team immediately rushed to the reported location. However, after verification and inquiry on the spot, it was revealed that no robbery had occurred; rather, the matter was related to a personal dispute and exchange of arguments over financial transactions.
Following the investigation, the police took both individuals into custody and registered a case against them, while further legal proceedings were underway, he added.
Two Vehicle Lifters Arrested, Nine Motorcycles Recovered
In a separate operation, Faisalabad Police arrested two vehicle lifters from the Madina Town police station area and recovered nine stolen motorcycles and other items from their possession. A police spokesman said on Tuesday that ASI Khawar Rafiq, in charge of police post Mujahid Hospital, conducted a raid based on a tip-off and nabbed ringleader Anas and his accomplice Khalil, who were wanted by the police in a number of vehicle lifting cases.
The police recovered nine motorcycles worth Rs700,000 and other items from their possession, while further investigation was underway, he added.
