Truck Driver's Body Retrieved from Phuleli Canal Following Bridge Collapse Incident
HYDERABAD – In a tragic turn of events, the body of a truck driver was successfully recovered from the Phuleli Canal, one day after his vehicle met with a devastating accident on the Hyderabad bypass road. The incident occurred when the truck broke through the protective fences of a bridge, causing it to plummet into the canal waters below.
Rescue Operations and Recovery Details
According to an official statement, local divers played a crucial role in the recovery process. A diver managed to pull out the body of the deceased driver, identified as Barkatullah Pathan, from the canal. Following this discovery, the diver promptly notified Rescue 1122, the emergency service, to coordinate further actions.
The search for the missing body had been ongoing for approximately eight hours, starting from Thursday evening and continuing until 2 a.m. on Friday. However, due to the challenges posed by the late-night conditions, the search was temporarily halted, only to resume later with the successful recovery.
Injured Driver and Vehicle Details
In the same accident, another driver, 42-year-old Dilawar Khan, sustained injuries. Rescue 1122 acted swiftly, extracting him from the truck in a timely manner. The vehicle was transporting goods from Karachi to Matiari district at the time of the incident.
Dilawar Khan was immediately shifted to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH), where he is currently receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in a state of recovery. The body of Barkatullah Pathan was also later transferred to LUH to undergo necessary medico-legal formalities.
This incident highlights the ongoing safety concerns on the Hyderabad bypass road and underscores the vital role of emergency services like Rescue 1122 in responding to such crises.
