ISLAMABAD - Two women were allegedly killed by their husbands in separate incidents in the federal capital on Monday, prompting police investigations into what authorities described as cases stemming from domestic discord.
Incident in Ghouri Town
In one incident, a retired Islamabad Police officer was arrested after allegedly shooting dead his wife at their residence in Ghouri Town Phase 7. Police said the suspect, identified as Tariq, had retired from service approximately a year ago. Preliminary investigations indicated that an argument between the couple escalated before he allegedly opened fire with a pistol, killing his wife on the spot.
Responding to the incident, police reached the house located in Akbar Arcade on Street 13 of Ghouri Town Phase 7 and took the suspect into custody. The alleged murder weapon was also recovered from the scene. The victim’s body was shifted to hospital for a post-mortem examination, while forensic experts collected evidence to aid the investigation.
Incident in E-11 Sector
In a separate incident in Islamabad’s E-11 sector, a woman identified as Maryam, also known as Mahnoor, was allegedly killed inside her apartment in Karsaz Tower. According to police, the victim’s husband, Muzammil, is suspected of attacking her with a sharp-edged weapon following a dispute between the couple. She sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The suspect allegedly fled immediately after the incident. Police said raids were under way at various locations to apprehend him. Crime scene investigators and forensic teams examined the apartment and secured evidence, while the victim’s body was transferred to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to complete legal formalities and undergo a post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation
Police officials said initial findings suggested that both killings were linked to longstanding domestic disagreements. However, investigators were continuing to examine all aspects of the cases before reaching final conclusions. Separate criminal cases have been registered, and investigations into both incidents remain in progress.
