Royal Reunion After Four Years
King Charles III and his wife Camilla met with Prince Harry, his wife Meghan, and their two children on Friday, July 10, 2026, marking the first time the family has gathered in four years. The Press Association news agency reported that Harry’s family traveled from an unspecified European location for the meeting. The reunion took place during Harry’s visit to the UK to mark the one-year countdown to the next Invictus Games, the sporting event for wounded veterans that he founded.
Children Reunite with Grandfather
Harry and Meghan’s children, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet, had not seen their grandfather since 2022. The family has lived in California since 2020 after stepping back from royal duties. Initially, Meghan and the children were expected to miss the trip, reportedly due to a refusal of police protection. Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to AFP’s request for comment on the meeting.
Legal Battles and Strained Relations
On Tuesday, Harry and other high-profile figures lost a court case against the UK’s Daily Mail tabloid, accusing it of unlawful information gathering. The prince gave emotional testimony during the proceedings, which also involved singer Elton John and actor Elizabeth Hurley, who accused the tabloid publisher of privacy invasion. A further court hearing on July 29-30 could require Harry and six other complainants to pay substantial legal costs. This case is the third and final one brought by the Duke of Sussex in his acrimonious legal battle with British tabloids, further straining relations with the royal family.
Ongoing Legal Disputes
Harry, 41, remains embroiled in other legal spats, including over his police protection in Britain after leaving front-line royal duties six years ago. His departure from the UK in 2020 followed a bitter feud with his family, which worsened after the publication of his tell-all memoir “Spare.” Despite this, Harry has expressed a desire to reconcile with his father. He has long blamed the media for the death of his mother, Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997 while being pursued by paparazzi.
