LAHORE – Punjab Police Inspector General Abdul Kareem stated on Wednesday that the transfer of the District Police Officer (DPO) of Hafizabad was purely an administrative decision made by the Punjab Police department. In an official statement, the IGP emphasized that the decision was taken based on organizational requirements and administrative considerations. He further noted that transfers and postings are routine within the police administration and are executed according to institutional needs.
Clarification Amid Controversy
The statement from the top police official comes in response to media reports suggesting that the officer was removed due to political pressure from certain Members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs) representing the district. These reports claimed that influential MPAs had visited the DPO office and engaged in a heated exchange with the officer a few days prior.
Commitment to Impartial Policing
IGP Abdul Kareem reiterated that the Punjab Police remains dedicated to impartial policing, discipline, and serving the public with professionalism and dedication. He affirmed that all administrative actions are taken in the best interest of the force and the public.
In a separate development, the Lahore police unveiled a comprehensive security plan for Muharram, covering 458 processions to ensure safety during the religious observances.
