Iranian Spokesperson Confirms Ceasefire Clause in US Memorandum
Tehran: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei has announced that the memorandum of understanding with Washington includes a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. He stated that ending aggression against Lebanon will be an essential part of the agreement.
Addressing a press conference, Baghaei revealed that significant diplomatic progress has taken place over the past 24 hours. He emphasized that Iran has always preferred dialogue and diplomacy as the way to resolve issues.
Speaking to the media, Baghaei said that the people of Iran and Lebanon have strongly resisted Israeli aggression and made immense sacrifices to defend their sovereignty. He added that Iran will never forget the sacrifices of its senior leadership and that the nation stands firmly with its leadership and armed forces.
He confirmed that the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States will be signed next Friday. Regional visits are also part of the agenda ahead of the signing ceremony in Switzerland.
Baghaei noted that during the conflict, the Iranian people demonstrated resilience, unity, and national solidarity. He stressed that Iran would not allow any attempt to undermine its national interests and legal rights.
He also criticized the United Nations Security Council, saying it failed to condemn Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, which raises serious questions about the international system. According to him, the proposed memorandum could prove to be an important step toward reducing regional tensions and establishing peace.
