Punjab Assembly Speaker Meets Chinese Consul General

LAHORE – Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on Saturday met Chinese Consul General Sun Yan to discuss bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, economic collaboration, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and other matters of mutual interest. The meeting was held at the Punjab Assembly premises.

Constructive Discussions on Pakistan-China Relations

During the meeting, the speaker highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China marked another significant milestone in Pakistan-China relations. He described the meetings with the Chinese leadership as constructive and productive. He emphasized that timely implementation of the decisions taken during the visit would further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

CPEC and Economic Development

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stated that the Pakistan-China strategic partnership is a guarantee of shared prosperity and a brighter future for both nations. He observed that CPEC will usher in a new era of economic development in Pakistan. Investments in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will create employment opportunities, promote industrial growth, and contribute to sustainable economic development.

Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy

The speaker noted that parliamentary diplomacy can play a vital role in further strengthening the longstanding friendship, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China. Reaffirming his commitment to enhancing bilateral ties, he said Pakistan-China economic cooperation is reaching new heights under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

China’s Commitment to Expanding Relations

Describing Pakistan-China friendship as time-tested and iron-clad, the speaker said China remains a trusted partner in Pakistan’s development and prosperity. On the occasion, Chinese Consul General Sun Yan reiterated China’s commitment to further expanding bilateral relations with Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of educational and cultural exchanges in bringing the people of both countries closer and said cooperation in diverse sectors will continue to deepen for mutual benefit.
