Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria Yousef Al-Balawi has officially presented his credentials as the Kingdom’s non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Benin. The ceremony took place in Porto-Novo, where Al-Balawi met with Benin’s President Romuald Wadagni, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.
Diplomatic Exchange and Greetings
During the meeting, Al-Balawi conveyed the greetings of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to President Wadagni. He emphasized the strong and enduring relations between the two nations, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.
In response, President Wadagni reciprocated the greetings and expressed Benin’s dedication to advancing joint work and cooperation with Saudi Arabia across various sectors. Both sides reiterated their desire to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Context of Non-Resident Ambassadorship
Al-Balawi, who currently serves as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Nigeria, will now also represent the Kingdom in Benin on a non-resident basis. This arrangement allows for diplomatic representation without the establishment of a separate embassy in Benin, streamlining diplomatic engagement while maintaining active relations.
