Pakistan is set to host the 9th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women in Islamabad on Sunday and Monday, July 11-12, 2026, as reported by Pakistani state media. The conference, which convenes approximately every three to four years, will bring together ministers from OIC member states to review progress on women's rights, share national policies, and adopt new frameworks.
Conference Objectives and Agenda
The conference aims to develop a synthesis to create an enabling environment for women in OIC member countries, where they can fully realize their potential to contribute to socio-economic development, according to state-run Radio Pakistan. Deliberations will focus on enhancing political and professional participation of women and advancing their access to economic resources and financial systems. Additionally, the conference will address ways to bridge gender gaps in technology and digital participation.
Participation and Delegates
Around 190 delegates from 57 OIC member countries, including prominent women personalities, government dignitaries, OIC observers, and officials, will participate in the two-day event. The conference will feature discussions on national policies and best practices, aiming to adopt new frameworks for women's empowerment.
Historical Context

The last conference was held in Cairo in 2021, centering on women's empowerment, protection frameworks, and socio-economic participation.
