CTD Kills Five Terrorists in Attock IBO, PM Shehbaz Praises Operation

LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in a border area near Attock. According to a CTD spokesperson, the department had received credible intelligence indicating that terrorists in the area had finalized plans to launch attacks across various parts of Punjab.

Details of the Operation

Providing further details, the spokesperson stated that law enforcement personnel raided the reported hideout. Upon arrival, the suspects opened fire on the officers, sparking a fierce exchange of gunfire. As a result, all five terrorists were neutralized, the spokesperson added.

The slain terrorists were identified as members of Fitna al-Khawarij, a term used by the state to refer to militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Recovered Items

The CTD spokesperson reported that a suicide jacket, three sub-machine guns (SMGs), two hand grenades, and a significant quantity of ammunition were recovered from the possession of the deceased terrorists. The identification process of the militants is currently underway, and a search operation in the surrounding areas has been initiated.

The spokesperson urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to the CTD helpline to assist in counterterrorism efforts.

Prime Minister Commends Operation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the successful operation carried out by the CTD in Attock District against the Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists. In a statement, the prime minister commended the CTD for eliminating five terrorists during the operation.

“The security forces, police, and CTD are achieving significant successes in the fight against terrorism,” the prime minister said. “We are firmly committed to the complete eradication of all forms of terrorism from the country,” he added.
